Simple steps to become a better Christian

Go to church regularly.

Going to Church regularly is extremely important for any follower of Christ. Matthew 18:20 says “For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.”
Regular church attendance is a first step to fight our laziness in the name of God. In today’s busy world time is one of the most valuable assets that we own. We could spend these Sunday morning having a breakfast with our friends, going to movies, walking our dog, watching Netflix or running in the local park. The opportunities are countless, but spending your time praying to the Lord with your brothers and sisters will give you much more in return. By doing this each Sunday we create a habit. A good habit that other people will notice and there is a high chance that they will be inspired by you. It could be your family members, your friends or neighbours, when they see your faith and commitment, they might get interested and follow your example.

Read the Bible.

The Bible is the only book that any Christian will ever need. Just think about this simple fact, the Bible is inspired by God Himself! It involves His Wisdom, His intentions, His forgiveness, and His glory. If you read it carefully, you will be able to find the answers to all your questions. The Bible contains all the important lessons that children of God need to follow on their path to eternal salvation. It teaches us how we can pray and live in Christ. You can find saying and recorded examples of apostles, famous biblical figures, prophets, Jesus Christ and Lord Himself!
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “It is necessary for the welfare of the nation that men’s lives be based on the principles of the Bible. No man, educated or uneducated, can afford to be ignorant of the Bible.”

Pray often.

Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Prayer is a vital element of our spiritual life. No matter what is happening in our lives, the Lord wants to communicate with us and to hear from us. It is important to praise Him and talk to Him throughout your day. Thank our Almighty Father for everything you have. Do it after you wake up, do it before each meal, do it before your start work and don’t forget to do it before going to bed. There are so many books around teaching us how to pray. Even if it seems that everything is against you, the God is here ready to listen to you and hear you. Don’t neglect this generous gift that we have!

Help others in need.

Proverbs 28:27 “Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.”

We’ve got a pretty clear message here. If we help those in need, we will get much more in return. On the other hand, ignoring them will harm us. I believe that being a real Christian should be synonymous with assisting other people in need. Helping poor and people experiencing financial difficulties should not be done for show or approval of others. You should do it discretely and you should do it in the name of God.
Though buying lunch for a homeless person is an obvious example of works of mercy, there are many other ways to serve your community. You can donate the most valuable gift you have: your time. Become a volunteer, assist people with mental or physical disabilities, participate in a fundraising campaign. There are so many options, don’t close your eyes on them!
